Chain of Title for Real Property

Chain of title is a report which shows the transfers from the present owner back to the original owner of the property (back to 60 years). Chain of title includes history of Deeds, Foreclosures, Sheriff Sales, Quiet Title Actions, Drug Forfeiture Deeds and other recorded transfers of title to real property. Before settlement, the lender will request the chain of title from the title company as well as the title report to ensure the title is acceptable.
